Grilled Hawaiian Beef Kabobs with Pineapple
Tips for Experienced Cooks
For an exceptional flavor depth, consider marinating the beef overnight. The prolonged marination time allows the beef to absorb more flavors, resulting in a more tender and flavorful dish. Additionally, try using a combination of both light and dark soy sauce for the marinade to introduce a more complex salty and umami profile. For the skewers, if using bamboo, soaking them in water for at least an hour before grilling will prevent them from catching fire easily. Experiment with different cuts of beef to find your preferred texture and flavor – sirloin is traditional, but ribeye or tenderloin could offer a richer taste.
Step 1: Marinate the beef
In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, and garlic. Add the beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 lb beef
Step 2: Preheat the grill
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Step 3: Assemble the kabobs
Thread the marinated beef, onion, bell peppers, and pineapple onto skewers. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Step 4: Grill the kabobs
Grill the kabobs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Step 5: Rest and serve
Remove the kabobs from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
