Teriyaki Chicken with Sesame Ginger Broccoli
Tips for Experienced Cooks
To elevate the dish, consider marinating the chicken overnight. The longer marination time will deepen the flavors. Also, for an additional layer of flavor, slightly char the broccoli on the grill after sautéing with a bit of the reserved marinade brushed on top. Finish the dish with a drizzle of sesame oil and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds over the chicken and broccoli before serving.
Step 1: Prepare the marinade
In a small bowl, whisk together the following ingredients and set aside:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Step 2: Marinate the chicken
Place the chicken thighs in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken and toss to coat. Cover the dish or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- 4 chicken thighs
Step 3: Grill the chicken
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade. Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
Step 4: Cook the broccoli
Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the heat and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds and 2 sliced green onions.
Step 5: Serve
Serve the grilled chicken alongside the sautéed broccoli.
