Tips for Experienced Cooks

For an exceptional flavor enhancement, consider brining your pork tenderloin before cooking it. A simple brine could be made from water, salt, sugar, and a few of your favorite herbs. Soak the pork in the brine for a few hours before proceeding with the recipe. This process not only seasons the pork more deeply but also ensures it stays juicy and tender during cooking. Also, try finishing the roasted sweet potatoes and apples with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary just before serving for an aromatic touch.

Step 1: Preheat oven and season pork

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Season the pork tenderloin with salt and pepper on both sides.

  • 1 pork tenderloin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Step 2: Sear the pork

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the pork tenderloin and sear on all sides for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove the pork from the skillet and place it in a baking dish.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Step 3: Roast the pork

Roast the pork in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Step 4: Prepare the sweet potatoes and apples

While the pork is roasting, toss the sweet potatoes and apples with the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and pepper.

  • 2-3 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Step 5: Roast the sweet potatoes and apples

Spread the sweet potatoes and apples mixture on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are tender and golden brown.

Step 6: Rest and serve the pork

Once the pork is done, take it out of the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it. Serve the pork tenderloin with the roasted sweet potatoes and apples on the side.
